X Factor USA Show Highlights & Videos from 11/7 – The Live Shows Begin!
Tonight the contestants are live in Hollywood and are performing live. There are 12 contestants remaining and the competition is getting tighter. But there are teenagers on this show who are no doubt talented but the question remains whether or not they can handle the pressure. Tonight is also the night America gets to cast their votes for their favorite.
Before the show starts, Simon makes a stunning announcement that he believes he and the other judges made a mistake sending one act home. This means the Top 12 have now turned into the Top 13. The act they got it wrong with is Diamond White.
The theme of the songs tonight is the greatest movies ever made.
Arin Ray takes on American Boy. Arin delivers a smooth performance. Looks like Arin may be heading for a career in the pop genre. Big changes from the performance last week. The judges all loved the song and the performance.
Paige Thomas didn’t fare as well, however. She took on Take My Breath Away. Her vocals were right one and there are no dancers with her. Simon and LA were not impressed with her song choice. Britney liked the beginning of the song and Demi loved her.
Vino Allan sings When a Man Loves a Woman. Vino loves to sing for the military troops. He was born on a military base but he couldn’t get into the military because of his tattoos. Vino does an amazing job with this song. Demi said it was phenomenal, Simon said he improved so much in a week, LA was proud.
Simon’s group Emblem3 sang California Girls/My Girl. Not sure what Simon was thinking incorporating songs together like that but I guess he knows what he is doing. The sing some parts and rap other parts. It was a huge disaster but we find out they only had one day to rehearse this song. The judges all thought they did pretty good considering the lack of time they had.
Beatrice Miller takes on Iris. Her song was pitchy, vocals were scratchy and she seemed awkward on stage. But let’s remember she is only 13. The judges were not very critical of her other than Simon saying she had a few vocal issues.
Jannell Garcia takes on I Love Rock n Roll. Demi is turning her into a rocker chick that I don’t think suits her at all. She looked awkward in leather pants. She didn’t do anything different with the song either. The girls loved her; Simon did not.
Tate Stevens did a vocal to Dead or Alive. This was the perfect song choice for him. He has a bright future as a country singer. The judges loved him with Britney saying she thought he had what it took and Simon said he was back in the competition.
Lyric 145 sang the hit song Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. They were amazing. They hit every note head on. Simon gave the group the reigns this week and they ran with it. LA loved their performance, Britney was entertained and Simon called them bloody fantastic.
Diamond White sang I Have Nothing. Unfortunate I don’t think the performance was worth bringing Diamond back. First the song choice was too big for a 13 year old. Second she had vocal issues and for some reason all four judges loved her.
CeCe Frey sang Eye of the Tiger. The song was off pitch and the costume choice was a disaster. LA didn’t like it, Simon didn’t like it but the girls loved it.
Carly Rose took on It Will Rain. She did a great job. It was the prefect song choice for the teenager. Simon called her a star in the making and Britney thought she should have closed the show. She is definitely one to watch out or as the finals come up.
Jason Brock sang I Believe I Can Fly. Jason did okay with the song but he always sounds so karaoke. Britney thought it sounded like a lounge act and Simon said he didn’t feel that Jason could fly.
And last up was Fifth Harmony who used to be called themselves Lylas. They sang A Thousand Years. The still do not have their harmonies in order. But once again the judges were impressed by their performance.
