X Factor USA Show Highlights & Videos from 12/14 – Top Four Perform
After last weeks dramatic exit of Rachel Crow, this week is the Pepsi challenge. Our top four contestants will sing songs voted on by viewers to try and make it into the top three. The fans had three song choices per contestant to vote and the contestant would perform whichever song had the most votes. Here are the song choices:
For Melanie Amaro are ”Hero” by Mariah Carey, “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” by Whitney Houston or “The Voice Within” by Christina Aguilera. For Chris Rene, it’s ”My Love Is Your Love” by Whitney Houston, “Angel of the Morning” by Shaggy or “Fly” by Sugar Ray. For Marcus Canty, it’s ”We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey, “Saving All My Love For You” by Whitney Houston or “I’ll Make Love to You” by Boyz II Men. For Josh Krajcik, it’s ”Chasing Pavements” by Adele, “Everytime You Go Away” by Hall & Oates or “Come Together” by The Beatles.
I think it is pretty obvious which songs are going to be selected. Here are the performances and judges comments in order of appearance.
1. Marcus Canty singing Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Love to You”.
Nicole said: You are bringing sexy back, you are making all these girls excited, good job tonight.
Paula said: I can always count on you giving 150%, solid performance.
Simon said: You didn’t choose the song, you sang it well, my only problem is that your mentor is responsible for the staging, the rose and the zombie dancers was very corny and distracting, you didn’t change the song enough either.
L.A. said: It takes great taste to know great taste, you were fantastic.
2. Chris Rene singing Sugar Ray’s “Fly”.
Nicole said: You know what I love about you, you just make us feel good, you look like a million bucks.
Paula said: You look more like five million bucks, your heart resonates with the world.
Simon said: I love the choice of song, but it wasn’t your best vocals yet. My advice, there is five million dollars on the lane, come back out with more conviction and more focus.
L.A. said: You have the sparkle of a star, just keep doing what you are doing, my man.
3. Melanie Amaro singing Mariah Carey’s ”Hero”.
L.A. said: That was really good, it was predictable, what did concern me is that I didn’t feel your usual passion and love for the song.
Nicole said: I loved that America choose this song, love the message, it is perfect and fitting that you are singing this song because we all you knew you hate this amazing talent, you inspire all of us.
Paula said: Your voice is impeccable, I invited the guy who wrote the song, you made it work.
Simon said: What that wasn’t, it wasn’t karaoke. It was original, that was bloody fantastic.
4. Josh Krajcik singing The Beatles’ “Come Together”.
L.A. said: You were great, awesome comeback.
Paula said: You attack it out of your soue, it was brilliant, I would pay for you to perform live on stage.
Simon said: I total agree with L.A. you have come back and come back strong.
Nicole said: You are just living and breathing fire, you have the look of steel honey.
5. Marcus Canty singing “Careless Whisper”.
Nicole said: I loved, it was great. Paula said: You were great, good job.
Simon said: it was horrific, grotesqueness, like a Vegas show in the 90’s.
L.A. said: I just saw a guy who comes out here week after week, comes back swinging each time, he looks like a champion.
6. Chris Rene singing Alicia Keys’ “No One”.
Nicole said: You don’t have the best voice in this competition, but it’s your spirit, we believe in you.
Paula said: I love you, I embrace you.
Simon said: You delivered big time, your dad would be incredibly proud, you got heart.
L.A. said: I am so proud of you, good job.
7. Melanie Amaro singing Michael Buble’s “Feeling Good”.
L.A. said: Great song choice, you are the best woman on the stage.
Nicole said: That was the Melanie Amaro freedom anthem.
Paula said: You are letting go and I feel you.
Simon said: This is why we brought this show to America, this was your greatest performance of the show so far.
8. Josh Krajcik singing “Hallelujah”
L.A. said: That lacked excitement for me, it’s a great song, my advice is to go into the finals and stop looking back.
Paula said: How can you say that L.A., this guy opens up his heart and makes the song original.
Simon said: This is all about that final next week, I agree with Paula, you did what you should do, it was great and sincere.
Nicole said: Thank you Simon and Paula for recognizing the simple truth, it was breathtaking.
With that ends tonights performances. Believe it or not we are just a week away from the finals!
