X Factor winner to receive $5 Million

Today Simon Cowell announced that the X Factor winner will receive a $5 million recording contract, the largest ever in a reality show.  American Idol winners have averaged about $1million in the year following their win. The TV shows America’ Got Talent and Survivor offer $1 million to the winners. So this makes X Factor the largest prize provider in TV’s history.

“We want someone that will be a global super star.” Simon Cowell says. “If you win this competition I am gonna put my money where my mouth is. It’s a $5 million competition.”
